Specific Directions

Step 1: Pre Soak: Mix three scoops (scoop included) per gallon of warm water making sure product is completely dissolved. Soak for 15-20 minutes, remove fabrics and gently press out excess water.

Step 2: Mix three scoops per gallon of warm water making sure product is completely dissolved. Soak fabrics in fresh solution for 6-8 hours. Remove, rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.  Most freshness and brightness will be restored.

Repeat step 2 if necessary.

    I love this product!

I first ordered this product to ‘hopefully’ restore a baptismal gown that was almost 90 years old and had big yellow splotches down the front. The gown, without even a hint of stain, is now framed and hanging in our home. After that, I undertook a couple of large counted cross-stitch projects and used it to clean them before framing. It worked like a charm on them also. I have already recommended this product to our local historical museum and can’t say enough good things about it.

Many years ago as my kids were growing up I used Biz in the laundry. And I used Biz on old quilts and blocks. But about 6 or 7 years ago, something happened to Biz and it was no longer the same formula. I learned the hard way. I put a 1930’s pink and green quilt into a Biz soak and the pink ran all over the place. I had never had that happen before with Biz. I happened to have an older box of Biz and compared it to a new box. Different ingredients were listed on the box. So long story short, I tried a whole bunch of different products to try and find something that preformed like Biz use to. That is when I found Restoration. I like it a lot and use it a lot. I use it on old quilts, linens, and fabric. Just soaked a white wholecloth quilt that came out just beautiful.

I have just restored some beautiful old handmade lace from my mother and grandmother. It was brown and stained, and it has now returned to its lovely ivory color. Then, I tackled an old handsewn and hand-quilted quilt, which was drab and dingy with large brown stains–absolutely unusable. It was a big project, requiring the use of the bathtub for soaking, but the background is now white and glistening and the blue design is lovely and colorful. None of the fabric in any of the items has deteriorated in any way.
Thank you, thank you to Engleside for such a wonderful product! I am telling everyone I know!

I am absolutely amazed how well this product cleaned my vintage linens. Some of these linens are 60-70 yrs. old. They were yellowed and stained, with some rust marks. Needless to say, this product restored the fabric to it’s original beauty. The linens are simply gorgeous. Yes, I did have to work on some of the rust stains but the rest of the discoloration from the aging process disappeared. I have used other products but nothing comes close to this. I can’t thank Engleside enough for such an outstanding product.

My sister introduced me to this product several years ago and I’ve been hooked ever since. It has gone above and beyond my expectations. I’ve used it on so many items but it was when it cleaned an heirloom stitchery that came from Europe with my grandmother that made me a lifetime customer. Thank you so much.

This is such a wonderful product, I have cleaned a lot of my vintage cloths, just recently cleaned a church altar cloth that they were going to throw out due to age, took it home washed in Restoration Fabric cleaned and it has come up beautifully white along with a vintage piece of Irish linen shipped from England. Thank you for having such a great product, will be buying more 🙂 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

I was helping a friend prepare household goods for a charity truck pick-up when she asked me to remove the personal labels from several badly stained and damaged old quilts. I came to the last one and was touched by the label’s story of her maternal grandmother Maggie’s Blue Scrap Churn Dash quilt that had been dated by the style of fabric scraps to the early 1920s. Looking more closely, I saw the extremely fine quality of Maggie’s hand stitching and realized that the quilt was not damaged, only deeply stained a mottled tea-color over the entire pieced top and muslin backing. I asked if I could have the quilt and try to clean it and my friend gave me her 2 lb jar of Restoration. It took the entire jar and several soakings in a bathtub but the results were remarkable. Maggie’s brown quilt top has been restored to it’s original luster – a beautiful combination of solid blue and white with brilliantly colored small squares and triangles of delicate and dainty floral, striped, checked, and plaid vintage fabrics nearly 100 years old. I am ordering more Restoration to replace what I borrowed from my friend and also to use on my own family heirloom needlework.

I read about Restoration about five years ago on a vintage linens website when was trying to learn how to clean a lot of old linens which I had inherited from a friend. It was nothing short of a miracle product at returning the highly stained and dingy cotton and linen bedding, tablecloths and clothing. I started using it on all kinds of stains. My husband must have been the model for the Peanuts character “Pigpen,” because he gets stain on his cloths frequently–ink, grease, food, and plant material. The worst two cases were the ink pen he left in the pocket of a new shirt and was washed AND DRIED and the banana plant stains he frequently gets on his shirts while gardening. Both required multiple soakings (a less determined woman would have given up, but I believed Restoration would save the clothes). Since my first purchase, I have recommended Restoration anytime someone mentions stains or I see food on someone’s clothing.
Lastly, I have a friend who is a chemist who happens to live in Lancaster, PA. I asked him if the product was safe. He looked at the ingredients and confirmed that it wouldn’t harm my clothes, washer or the environment. That made me even happier.

I have a collection of t-shirts I bought when I was an exchange student. I wore them as a teenager until they were absolutely gross. Most of them were originally white. I always planned to make a t-shirt quilt with them, but there was no way I could with the sweat stains that seemed to get worse with age and storage. I found Restoration online, and I decided to give it a try as I felt my only other option was bleach. I used a lot of it and soaked them all in the bathtub overnight. The shirts came out so white I could have added them back to my wardrobe and worn them again. I have also used it on a cotton dress that had belonged to my great grandmother as a child, and it took the dress from dingy yellow to bright white in a matter of minutes. I am so impressed with this product, and I always recommend it to anyone looking to restore fabric. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

I have used Restoration for several years for cleaning vintage and antique linens that I sell in my booth in an antique mall. I have always been very pleased with how it removes stains and whitens all types of linens and crocheted items. It also gives the linens a fresh aroma. I have shared it with several friends and they have been pleased with the results also.

  13. Kathryn

I absolutely love this product. I was skeptical that it could work as promised, but I tried it on an Irish linen tablecloth that my aunt had given us for our wedding 40 years ago. It was like a miracle restoring the tablecloth to its original beauty and getting rid of the yellow and brown age stains. So glad I found a recommendation online for it.

Restoration is the best cleaning product that I have ever used. I live in Belgium and have purchased many pieces of old lace as well as vintage French and Belgian bed linens. Restoration removes stains and yellowing without damage to the fabrics or colors. I highly recommend it.

Best laundry product I’ve ever used!! Years ago, I inherited a large quantity of antique linens, laces, and textiles which had been improperly stored for years. I recently unwrapped them all and have had UNBELIEVABLE results from this product! It removed old stains and severe yellowing. Everything looks SO MUCH better! Thank you!!!

  16. Cheryl

Oh, My! This is an amazing product! I used it on some very sentimental table linens that were over 50 years old and each one is now spotless! I also used it on an old wedding veil to perfection. Thank you!

  17. Marty Blum

This product is amazing. I used it on pillowcases with lace made by my great-grandmother in the 1890’s. The brown and grey stains are gone and the fabric is vibrant again. When I was 8 or so, I made my grandmother a cross-stitched cover for her toaster. 68 years later, I used Restoration, and it looks like new! Thanks! I recommend this with enthusiasm.

Altar Guild members’ at Christ Episcopal Church have duties that include caring for the altar linens. Many of them are very old and were hand embroidered by nuns. Some become stained with lipstick, wine, etc. These linens continue to be fresh, pure, unstained and in constant use, in large part because of the use of Restoration. Thank you!

  19. Sheila Browne

A waiter spilled a carafe of red wine all over my white cashmere sweater. Restoration Powder got it all out, and the sweater was as white as when I first bought it. An amazing product!

  20. Kayla Gearhart

This product is amazing! I had a dirty kitchen steam mop pad that had been washed and dried on. It was originally white but then turned dark gray with dirt. A few hours soaking in restore turned the mop head back to white!! It looks brand new! I swear by this stuff. Especially if you have kids- cleans the stains out right away!

  21. Karla Hromyak

This product is incredible! I had purchased it a few years ago to try on an heirloom quilt and quilt top, each over 100 years old and very badly stained, the one to the point it looked to be brown instead of white and the delicately patterned baskets were almost undistinguishable. I hadn’t worked up the courage to clean either until this past weekend. I used Restoration on 6 placements, only about 25 years old, made for me by my mother-in-law and her mother, both deceased. There were pretty stained due to years of constant use and I wanted to get them clean to rework them into a quilt for my granddaughter as a keepsake. They were pristine after just the presoak! So I decided to try in my heirloom quilt top that was the worst…and it is truly amazing the difference after 7 hours soaking in Restoration. I have some some spots to work on then will do the quilt. This product is excellent, thank you Engleside!
